Renowned Performer Pat Finn, Recognized For Appearances in Seinfeld and The Middle, Passes Away at Age 60.

Stateside performer Pat Finn, who was seen in popular TV shows such as "Friends", Seinfeld and "The Middle", has succumbed at the age of 60.

The comedy and improvisation performer died at home in Los Angeles, California recently having undergone cancer treatment from 2022 onward, according to news outlets.

"He saw everyone as a friend - solely future friends he had yet to meet," his relatives said in a announcement.

They noted that he had "lived his life fully - with joy and exuberance".

An Extensive Career on Screen

His debut TV appearance was in the George Wendt Show in 1995, where he appeared as the brother of the main character.

He was also seen in a recurring role on Murphy Brown from 1995 to 1997.

He starred as a party host named Joe Mayo in the show Seinfeld in the late 90s, playing a party host famous for delegating tedious tasks to his guests.

In the late 1990s and early 2000s, he made guest appearances on a variety of popular shows, including:

  • "King of Queens"
  • "Friends"
  • That '70s Show
  • "House"

Finn was perhaps best known for his portrayal of Bill Norwood in The Middle, featuring across eight series over nearly a decade.

His film credits include "It's Complicated" and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups.

Off-Screen Life

Outside of his on-screen roles, Finn was an improv performer and also taught at the University of Colorado, where he was a professor.

He was part of a comedy group of six called Beer Shark Mice.

"He coached, befriended and mentored numerous pupils over the years and it would be difficult to find someone anyplace who has an unkind word to say about him," his family wrote.

In a tribute, fellow actor actor Richard Kind said there was "nobody more kind, gentle, and humorous, grounded individual you could encounter".

"Consistently upbeat, making those around him better and funnier. A wonderful father and man," Kind wrote online.

Finn is survived by his partner Donna, his three kids, and his parents and siblings.
