It parallels of King’s son Joseph Hillstrom King’s recent chilling tome, in which a close-knit group call forth the primordial, infinitely malicious serpent King Sorrow from the Endless Night to help them defeat some villains. Celebrating a Authorial Legacy

Joe Hill began his writing journey making great efforts to distance himself from his well-known dad, using the pseudonym he continues to employ and avoiding meeting his agent (he exhibits a uncanny likeness to his dad). Yet with this recent release, he leans into it. Several quotes that consciously reflect some of his father’s iconic (the famous Dark Tower introduction); a scene that recalls a King plot point (a battle of wits). In this whopper of a novel, the author rejoices in his lineage, and readers share in the joy.

Meet the Main Characters

Moving through four decades, Hill also moves with natural fluency across narrative styles: as the companions strive to manage the situation they find themselves in by, in different ways, picking people who are obviously evil to sacrifice, or searching for methods to destroy the entity themselves, we go from thriller to dark fantasy, clandestine torment to romance to horror. One particularly memorable shift was to a adventure narrative, within the subterranean depths beneath this UK region, a segment infused with the fantasy maestro that was magnificently horrifying.

A Rich Canvas of Horror and Courage

We encounter trolls – bridge-dwelling ones and online ones, genuinely frightening and superbly depicted. There are magical swords and deceptions, breath-taking moments of valor and instances of appalling malevolence, both mortal and otherworldly. It stands as a masterpiece: a horror novel that is primarily a tribute to the creative spirit, and to affection and camaraderie. “We longed for a tale to embrace and {now we’ve got one|presently we possess it|currently we hold it,” says the wealthy student as the allies assemble around a surface, getting ready to invoke their beast to life with the force of their minds.
